Re: Cannot be implemented: Feature request: Undo & Redo after save

Sorry, not if it can cause all kinds of random bugs. The support burden will be on me.

Re: Cannot be implemented: Feature request: Undo & Redo after save

It's not a problem "for me" and not strange! The question comes up frequently, which is why my reply was short. You have only a few options to ensure file consistency: Lock the file, make a copy, or use Windows transactional filesystem services (e.g., used for shadow copy). The latter is n...

Re: Feature request: Full Undo & Redo!

After the file is saved undo cannot be applied anymore, since the diff info is tied to the unmodified file.
This is a consequence of the large file support.

Re: Ability to set starting Offset

Could I also add the option to fill the remaining unused space with a set value when saving a file? When programming an 8K ROM, you use an 8K BIN file and usually fill it with something like the binary representation of a NOP instruction. If you open a file, the only undefined region would be the l...

Re: Ability to set starting Offset

I agree, banking will be difficult, e.g., when searching a file/stream, as it would break a fundamental assumption (each byte has exactly one address). You'd only find data for the currently active bank. For display you could have a kind of listbox or arrow buttons to select the bank, but that would...

Re: Ability to set starting Offset

I think I have an option that integrates better with the rest: Add an entry to the extras/tools menu, to open a memory image. Then it would insert a folded region of undefined data (depending on the file type, or file contents), just like in the RAM editor/virtual memory editor as well. Additional t...

Re: Importing Intel Hex

I reviewed the entire logic, and it will not affect the result, if I add some countermeasures.
So the importer now ignores these two types of file format errors safely and therefore silently.

Solved in current development version.

Re: Importing Intel Hex

I'll see what I can do, but the current architecture has no way to provide warnings in the GUI (would need an extra log window) and the class that implements this has no facility to report anything but errors and success, but I'll see what I can do. Still, please point out this bug to the manufactur...

I edited the post again, please see the updates.

I will see if I can "fix" this without any harm.

Re: Importing Intel Hex

If you look at the official documentation of the Intel Hex file format , you will see that it mentions the end of file record (last page of the PDF above). The following of your two records has a RECTYPE of 01 : :000D9A0158 ^^ Which makes it an end of file record. And as the official Intel documenta...

Re: Cannot reproduce: HxD V2.1 The company name cannot be empty

I had another user report a similar error: https://forum.mh-nexus.de/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1156

Did you use Sandboxie maybe, or something similar that hooks into operating system functions?

Re: The company name cannot be empty

Ah, that's unfortunate, now it will be hard to reproduce. Maybe it's due to registry or file access redirections made by Sandboxie. What version of Sandboxie were you using? When you encountered the problem the first time, had you installed/used HxD before on this machine or was HxD installed/used t...

Re: Open source

Thanks for the tip, looks like a useful software. But the issues I mentioned in the posts above remain (the Attribute Changer GUI looks like it uses standard components, HxD however uses lots of custom ones, and I already have experience in how the two systems differ, especially the IDE/comfort etc.).

Re: The company name cannot be empty

Ok, I installed the exact same Windows version you have on a VM, transferred the same HxD.exe you are using onto the Desktop, and started it. No error message. It creates a Settings folder on the Desktop (because that's where the HxD.exe is) and works well. Same for the installable version: no error...
