Re: Difference: HxD installed vs. portable?
One problem I've found with the new method is that the installer requires admin rights in Win7+. The installer always triggers an UAC prompt when opening it, but non-admin users can't accept it, so you can't even reach the portable selection. I think it would be better if the UAC prompt only happene...

Fixed: Garbage when copying from hex panel in some files
Rarely for some files, when copying certain bytes extra garbage is also copied. For every 0x04 bytes the 2nd byte will copy "NNpyin", and the 3rd "NNpy", and the 2nd+3rd "NNNNin". bug.png I'm not sure why only some files cause this but I've attached one where it happens...

Disappearing tab panel
Sometimes when closing a tabs from the right, the tab panel disappears. The tabs are still there and can be clicked, but the panel is invisible. It can be restored by opening a new tab so it's not super important. Maybe affected by long file/tab names? Can be reproduded like this: - open several fil...

Minor usage enhancements
Hi, I wanted to suggest a few things: - accept 0xN hex notation I often paste numbers like 0x43234523 in search/goto/select block, but aren't accepted by the validation, so I have to manually remove the "0x" part. It'd faster/easier if HxD could recognize this standard notation and ignore ...

Done: HxD: Block extraction
Could you add some feature to create a new file from a selected block or from an offset range? Btw, when you are saving the dialog says "SSaving..." (with double S). Also, if you are saving a new file with "save as" of (for example) 200MB and you cancel before it finishes, you st...

Re: Problems with undo and fill/insert
What is "select highlight"? Ah, I meant to put either select or hightlight. So "select" a block of length 20. What does that sentence mean? Well... it's a bit hard to explain, you should try it yourself. Just select block, insert and undo a few times in diferent places in a file...

Done: HxD: extended "select block" option
Hi, a couple of minor things I'd like to see in HxD. When using "select block" I hope you could add an option to select from starting point + block length in bytes instead of only ending position. Sometimes I have a starting offset and size, and having to manually calculate the ending offs...

Fixed: HxD: Problems with undo and fill/insert
Hi, I've noticed a few bugs related to those. They also happen in the german developer version. First, you can't undo "Edit-> Fill selection". I believe the operation is not being added to the undo queue (or something like that); if you edit a few bytes, then fill, then undo the program wi...

Re: Extended tab keyboard commands and language display
You can use CTRL+SHIFT+TAB to select the previous tab. The issue with ALT+1-9 is that it is used (at least on the num-pad) to enter characters (in any windows app). ALT+left/right is commonly used to browse backwards/forwards, this would be something like a moving history of the caret, but not the ...

I did a few more tests and so far it's working fine. I also got this situation where I had 4 files selected: opening them with the normal version would always stop after the second or third, but the the dev beta would open them correctly. I did this a few times changing back and forth versions to be...

Extended tab keyboard commands and language display
Hi, could you implement some other ways to change between tabs? I was thinking something like ALT+left/right to select next/prev and ALT+1-9 to go to one. I know you can select next tab (but not prev) with CTRL+TAB and close them with CTRL+W, or maybe there are other commands I haven't found. Also, ...

Yes, I meant when it stops loading multiple files one tab starts flashing like it was already opened, even if it wasn't (I think--not sure if this happens always). I've tried the new beta a few times and so far it hasn't happened again. However since it works somewhat random for me I'll keep testing...

Well, I tried a couple of times and it worked how you described (HxD not opened). However I did the same with other files and then with the first files I used and it actually worked fine, weird. Maybe it has to do with the order I select files in Windows or something? It's not a big deal though. Whe...
