Re: HxD: Custom Character Encoding for Text
Hello Maël and everyone, There's an extra reason I'd like to ask you to consider adding this feature, please. These days I decided to hack a game, but then I realized that the "traditional" romhacking hex editors don't support greek letters (and others I guess) in the table files in Window...

Selection type
Hi Maël, I don't know if this is already implemented or not... It would be useful if you could change the selection from bytes' values selection to decoded text selection and vice-versa. Let's say you select a phase from the decoded text from the right side, but you want to copy the bytes. You shoul...

Pin/unpin recent files
Hi Maël, I think it would be nice to be able to pin (and unpin) certain files, so that they are always in the recent files list (like in Office or Visual Studio).

Picture/Tile Viewer - Data Visualizer
Since I started rom hacking, I have been dreaming of a program that combines a hex editor and a tile editor or tile viewer. I saw that Hex Workshop has something like that, a "Data Visualizer". The Data Visualizer shows you the data as graphics, which helps you recognize parts of the data....

Re: Cannot be done: Keep editing history after file saving. please.
It is a little inconvenient though :-) Can I suggest a workaround? If "Create backups (BAK files)" is checked and the program saves the file, it can also save the diff history separately. When you press Ctrl+Z after the file has been saved, the program can ask you if you really want it to ...

Re: Background Colors
Hi again, I'd like to add something to my previous post. What I meant was to manually color/label parts of the data, so that you can easily know what you're looking at. I needed this feature, so I downloaded Hex Workshop, because I saw it supported it. Hex Workshop has a similar, but a little differ...

Re: Background Colors
If you do rom hacking to modify retro video games, you open the rom file with a tile editor (e.g. Tile Molester), so you can see the data as graphics (and change the font at least). You see garbage and you see real game graphics. These graphics look like garbage/random hex values when you open the r...

Re: HxD: Custom Character Encoding for Text
Hello Maël, Many years ago I used to rom hack/translate retro games to Greek as a hobby and these days, after about 10 years, I decided to translate a game, just for fun. As I didn't have to use a hex editor for years, I only discovered HxD very recently. It's a great program, much better than the o...
