Regarding the quick outlook of what is to come in the next version of HxD: you can expect the next version to be released this year. It will include a data inspector, enhancements for Windows Vista and 7 -- especially concerning UAC and the disk editor, add support for 64-bit processes in the RAM-editor, and get some other smaller enhancements such as privacy settings (history lists).
