A lot of the underlying code had to change and evolve to reach this stage.
Major changes of HxD 2.0 are:
- Data inspector with support for many data types (both viewing and editing)
- Fully 64-bit version including support for 64-bit processes in RAM/memory editor, and shell integration
- Enhancements of disk editor
- automatic locking and unmounting when writing to a disk under Windows Vista and up (enables writing to more disks without access denied errors)
- disk open window has more details (hardware name, size, etc.), to help in selecting of the right disk
- Major rewrite to allow minimal possible (yet safe) locking of files and use of caching to simplify sharing files with other apps
- Import of Intel Hex, Motorola S-Record
- Fully Unicode based
