Re: can not save in Bin format
Can you provide the full filename, including path, that fails?
Most likely it is a virus scanner that prevents saving files. When compiling programs with Visual Studio or Delphi most virus scanners also complain, if you don't put the destination folders into an exception list.
I assume that bin-files are now seen as executables by your virus scanner. HxD itself does not care about file types.

Re: can not save in Bin format
all files with bin file type
here some examples.
"C:\Airbag\08 H Element, Tony9072, Clear, 77960-SCV-A012-M1, 95640.bin"
"C:\Users\lazau\Desktop\20 T Prius, Crash, 89170-47810, Data Flash, R7F701A223, O5.bin"
"C:\Odometer\04 N 350Z, 135,125Miles, 93C66.bin"

Re: can not save in Bin format
Does it also happen when there are no spaces?
Is it a new issue since you updated HxD, or with the same version? In the latter case, I think it's related to some virus scanner.

Re: can not save in Bin format
i dont have virus software.
just the windows defender.
its been happening for 3 months now. i just finally got tired of it. came here to look for solution.
i uninstalled HxD 2.4.. rebooted pc ..
installed HxD 2.5. same problem.
i will try turning off virus . see if that helps.
EDIT:: just turn off virus . still the same issue when i save.

Re: can not save in Bin format
The following filename has a space after "08" and several after that as well:
"C:\Airbag\08 H Element, Tony9072, Clear, 77960-SCV-A012-M1, 95640.bin"
Sometimes whitespace in filenames can cause issues.
Re: can not save in Bin format
Does it work if you use another file extension like .txt or something arbitrary like .asd?
Re: can not save in Bin format
How about: "C:\Users\lazau\Desktop\testforbinfile.txt"
Can you send me a screenshot of the error?
Does running HxD as admin change anything?

Re: can not save in Bin format
If you get no error message, what happens that you can't save?
How do you save? Ideally show me a video, I cannot reproduce the issue.

Re: can not save in Bin format
my issue is HxD saves file with no Extension ..
Re: can not save in Bin format
Oh, that wasn't clear at all from the report. I thought you couldn't save the file at all.
I made a new file, typed in some random text, called it "Unanamed1.bin" then saved it (ctrl+s) and it works fine under Win8.1.
From what you tell me now I suspect it might have to do with file dialogs and possibly Windows Explorer extensions.

Re: can not save in Bin format
