Fixed: Empty Editor window?
Re: Empty Editor window?
Thanks for your reply!
I will have to create a version which logs all function calls up to the point of failure, so I can see what triggers the bug or alternatively do remote debugging.
Before I add all that logging, could you see if this version still can reproduce the bug as reliably?

Re: Empty Editor window?
Yes, that version has exactly the same behavior.
Extra note: I found that if I first open a file from the "Recent Files" menu (which loads correctly), I can then use the Open Files dialog to open files 100% of the time, until I close all tabs. Then behavior reverts back to before with failure after using the Open Files dialog.

Re: Empty Editor window?
I am adding some logging to HxD right now. However it seems that the amount of data obtained this way (since I can't narrow it down) would be huge. Would it be possible to arrange a remote debugging session?

Re: Empty Editor window?
Sure, what would that entail?
Re: Empty Editor window?
It would mean that I need temporary access to your system (the one that exposes the bug) with a remote debugger which would work over the Internet.
It would entail:
It would entail:
- Uploading and then installing the remote debugger (can be uninstalled again later) that will grant the development environment access to the innards of HxD while it runs.
- Uploading a debug version of HxD.
- Having access over something like VNC or TeamViewer to see what happens on the screen and interact with HxD.
- Some time so I can figure out the circumstances/causes of the bug.

Re: Empty Editor window?
Yeah, I could do that. When are you available?
Re: Empty Editor window?
How about roughly in an hour?

Re: Empty Editor window?
I can certainly try to help you now, but if you're available at 6 PDT (4h45m from now) that would be much easier.
Re: Empty Editor window?
6 PDT is a little difficult, since it's night over here then.
For today I have at most 3:30 hours left where I can do something, so if you find a time that suits you better, just write me a mail so we can arrange a TeamViewer session (with the temporary login data).
I could also offer 4pm-6pm (CEST) tomorrow, that's the same timezone as this forum has: GMT+2, which is 7-9am PDT.
