Microsoft is finally catching up with other email clients by introducing a unified inbox view to the new Outlook for Windows. The feature, called "All Accounts," allows users with multiple email accounts to view all their emails in one place instead of switching between separate inboxes.

What Is the All Accounts View?

The All Accounts view is Microsoft's take on the unified inbox. Emails from multiple accounts are displayed separately without merging, meaning each account's inbox remains distinct while messages are brought together for easier triage. For anyone managing two or more accounts—whether work, personal, or providers like Yahoo Mail Accounts—this should make email management significantly faster and more convenient.

According to Microsoft's announcement in the Microsoft 365 Message Center:

"The new Outlook for Windows introduces an All Accounts view, a unified inbox showing emails from multiple accounts separately without merging. It supports AI-assisted workflows and search, rolling out globally by late October 2026."

Key Features and Benefits

The unified inbox lets users read, delete, search, move, archive, and mark messages across accounts without switching between mailboxes. The experience also integrates with Copilot for AI-assisted email workflows and supports Search with Copilot for finding messages across the user's primary account.
For professionals who rely on multiple Outlook Accounts or other email services, this means less time clicking between inboxes and more time actually getting work done. Whether you're managing a business account, a personal address, or multiple Email Account logins, the All Accounts view brings everything into a single, streamlined interface.

Rollout Schedule

General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout began in late September 2026 and is expected to complete by late October 2026.
Admin Controls: New admin controls for Unified Inbox are planned for release later in October 2026.

Impact on Organizations

Users with more than one connected account in the new Outlook for Windows will be able to triage email across accounts from a single All Accounts view. Importantly, this does not merge mailboxes or move messages between accounts—each account remains separate, and the All Accounts view provides a unified view only.

For organizations where employees maintain multiple Email Account identities—such as separate client, project, or departmental addresses—this feature could simplify daily workflows without compromising account separation.

Action Required

No admin action is required at this time. Once the new admin controls become available later in October 2026, administrators will be able to manage whether Unified Inbox is enabled or disabled by default and whether users can change that setting. Microsoft says it will provide updated documentation and rollout guidance when those controls are released.

Compliance Considerations

While the feature provides a unified view across connected accounts, it does not merge mailboxes or move messages between accounts. Organizations should review their Outlook account and automated-assistance policies as appropriate to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.

The Bottom Line

The unified inbox has been a long-requested feature for Outlook users, and its arrival in the new Outlook for Windows brings Microsoft's email client in line with competing services. For users juggling multiple Outlook Accounts, Yahoo Mail Accounts, or other Email Account providers, the All Accounts view promises a cleaner, faster way to stay on top of correspondence—without sacrificing the separation between accounts. With the rollout already underway and global completion expected by late October 2026, most users won't have to wait long to try it out.
