I get the error "Windows socket error: The requested address is not valid in its context (10049), on API 'connect'." when I try Find Updates.

This may be because I'm behind a proxy server.

If I setup a proxy server in Internet Explorer, I can still use the update function...
If I go through a VPN network it works, too.

Did you setup your proxy server on your PC (like IE settings) or is this handled by another device on your LAN?

I'm working within a corporate intranet with all internet accesses going through a proxy. I use both IE and Firefox for browsing, both configured to route through the proxy.

I confess I don't really understand the inner working of these things!

I can confirm that the update function works fine for me when I'm not behind the proxy.

I've used other programs that required me to provide the proxy name and port number before they could access an update service, is this not the case with HxD?

Could you try if the developement version (it is in German) works with your proxy?

Yes, that means it is working. In English: "There is no new version available".

Bryan, could you please test again with the current development version?

I added some error handling and changed the code a little. Just want to make sure proxy still works.
It should show update information this time (I temporarily decreased the version number to test it).
