the other day I was trying to find out how many times a certain string exists in a file.

I was hoping for a "Count" button in the Search Dialog. For example, Notepad++ has a button like this in the Find Dialog: http://mojeprogramy.com/notepad/pliki/i ... s/find.png

As a workaround, I used the search+replace function. It returns the number of occurrences that were replaced.

Anyone else needs this?

yes, many other hed editors have it (if not all), it seems a very needed feature to me, - a "find all occurences" button which would find em and list em to click-around and count em
